Position-Specific Job Duties/Requirements

  1. A.      Specific Initial Assignment:  K-12 PE, Health/Fitness and (ideally) Art, Or;
  2. B.       Specific Initial Assignment:  K-12 PE, Health/Fitness and at least one other appropriate endorsement or documented teaching skill needed by the district for the 21-22 school year

Note:  The priority for filling this position is for an individual endorsed in K-12 PE, Health/Fitness.  As the person in this position will be needed to teach an additional course or two in addition to PE/Health/Fitness, the district will be looking for a candidate who has other teaching endorsements or background(s) in other content areas for which the district could create instructional assignments to meet student needs or interests.

PE/Heath and Fitness

  • Demonstrate awareness of the WA State Learning standards and requirements for Health/Fitness and the integration of their components into the development and implementation of daily lesson plans
  • Evidence of recent successful experience teaching elementary and/or secondary PE within the last 5 years.
  • Evidence of awareness of current changes affecting Health Education and Physical Education
  • Provide physical education/fitness in the gym, weight room and outdoors
  • Provide health education by following the district/state health curriculum and guidelines as they exist and as they may change over time

ART

  • Teach a variety of introductory art/drawing courses; additionally, possible digital art and photography
  • Actively participate in and assist with the development of the art curriculum as a part of a continuing evolutionary process for the program
  • Demonstrate awareness of the WA State Learning standards and requirements for Art and the integration of their components into the development and implementation of daily lesson plans
  • Provide for art education to be integrated with other core subject learning across the curriculum

Required:

----Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate
----WA State Endorsement in Health/Fitness and Physical Education, or
----WA State Endorsement/Training and Experience in Art or another appropriate teaching content area
----Valid First Aid/CPR Card
